This Privacy Policy explains how OnConvert, operated by a sole proprietor (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects and processes information when you use our file-conversion Service. We respect your privacy and comply with all applicable data protection regulations, including the GDPR.
1. Personal Information We Collect
You may use the Service without providing personal details. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.
We process minimal technical data necessary for operating the Service, including:
- IP address (processed for security, fraud prevention, and service functionality)
- Browser type and device information
- File types, conversion duration, and success/error indicators
This information is processed under our legitimate interest to operate and secure the Service.
2. Email Addresses
You do not need to provide an email address to use the Service. If account features or paid functionality are added in the future, email addresses will be collected only for account access or purchase management. Email addresses will never be sold or rented.
3. Exceptional Disclosures
Data may be disclosed only if required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or to prevent fraud or physical harm. No other disclosure is made.
4. File Handling & Storage
Uploaded files are processed automatically and are not manually reviewed. Input files and output files are stored only temporarily and deleted shortly after processing. We do not create backups and cannot restore deleted files.
WhatsApp Chat to PDF tool: When using the WhatsApp Chat to PDF converter, your chat file (.txt or .zip) is processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. Your chat content is never uploaded to our servers and never leaves your device.
Voice message transcription (optional add-on): If you enable the voice transcription feature, audio files extracted from your WhatsApp export are sent to OpenAI (via the Whisper API) for transcription. OpenAI processes these files under their own Privacy Policy. Audio files are not stored by OpenAI after transcription and are not stored by us at any point. This feature is optional — if you do not enable it, no audio data leaves your device.
5. Security
All communication between your device and our servers uses encrypted connections when available. We take reasonable steps to protect files, logs, and technical data from unauthorized access. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of data, and limitation or objection to processing where applicable.
If account features are added later, you may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
7. Cookies & Local Storage
This website does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics service.
We use browser sessionStorage solely to cache the site header for performance purposes. This data is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab and is never shared with third parties.
The WhatsApp Chat to PDF tool uses your browser's IndexedDB to temporarily store your generated PDF so you can download it after payment. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
8. Links to Third-Party Websites
The website may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites. Please review their privacy policies before sharing personal information.
9. File Processing & Data Roles
All files uploaded to the Service are processed automatically and exclusively for conversion purposes. We do not extract personal information from files. Files are deleted automatically after a short retention period.
10. Payment Information
All payment processing is handled securely by Stripe, our payment processor. When you complete a purchase, Stripe may collect billing details, IP address, device information, and transaction identifiers under their own Privacy Policy.
We do not store or have access to your full payment card information. Your card details are transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection.
We only receive limited information such as payment status, amount, and a transaction ID to verify your purchase and provide access to your converted file.
11. Third-Party Data Processors
We use the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:

Technical data may be processed on servers located within the EU or by service providers operating in other jurisdictions with adequate data protection safeguards.
