How to export a WhatsApp chat on iPhone
- Open WhatsApp and go to the chat you want to save
- Tap the contact or group name at the top of the chat
- Scroll all the way down and tap Export Chat
- Choose Attach Media (photos, videos and voice messages included as a .zip) or Without Media (text only)
- In the share sheet, choose Save to Files – or email it to yourself to continue on a computer
How to export a WhatsApp chat on Android
- Open the chat in WhatsApp
- Tap the three dots ⋮ in the top right corner
- Tap More → Export chat
- Choose Include media or Without media
- Pick where to save it – Google Drive, Files, or email it to yourself

1. "Export Chat" is missing from the menu

2. The export file is too big to email

4. The chat is in a different language or date format
